WHO ARE WE?
WHAT IS THE FAMILY ASSOCIATION?
It is a non-profit organization that operates under the sponsorship of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Its purpose is to bring together the families of the IDB employees in their process of adaptation to their new surroundings through diverse programs and activities that will, at the same time, help them integrate themselves to the American society.
WHAT IS OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE?
- In conjunction with the Bank, promote the well being of the IDB employee families in their different adaptation stages.
- Foster friendship and cooperation among the members through the different activities that the Association offers.
- Support, maintain contact and exchange information between headquarters and the Family Associations in the Country Offices.
- Maintain a close relationship with the IDB Staff Association and other administrative units of the Bank to coordinate joint endeavors that will provide better service to the members.
- Develop programs of interest for our members with other national and international organizations.
HOW ARE WE ORGANIZED?
The Family Association is composed of volunteers organized in a Board of Directors and three Divisions, having as well, the support of a Coordinator and an Assistant. They are in charge of coordinating, executing and evaluating the Association’s programs and activities.

All
programs are implemented, coordinated, executed, and evaluated by
volunteer members grouped in different Directions.
FUNCTIONS
OF THE DIRECTIONS:
SOCIO-CULTURAL
DIRECTION
Promotes activities, organizes meetings, museum visits, movie presentations, book club groups, etc. and other activities of interest to the members.
EDUCATION
DIRECTION
Organizes language and computer classes, among others.
COMMUNICATION
DIRECTION
Is responsible for maintaining the members and their families informed of the Association’s programs and activities through a biannual magazine, bulletins, the internet, and constantly updating the database.
ASSOCIATION-BANK COORDINATION
In charge of facilitating communication between the Association and the Bank. Also in charge of the Association’s office administration. Though the Association’s communication with the Bank is constant, it is facilitated by the Bank-Association Coordinator.
